DZR Shoes Presents the SHIFT

DZR-Shift-Black DZR-Shift-GrayCheck out the new DZR Shift. Available now! And there is a Facebook contest, so check that out also!

The Shift line of footwear is a natural extension from DZR’s existing offerings of the original clipless urban bike sneakers. The design is rooted in urban street style, yet still maintains all performance elements that are non-negotiable for the urban dweller. The Shift has been co-designed among three world-renowned artists, Burrito Breath, Wakako and D Young. Each artist has designed the interior of the shoes in order to compliment the exterior design of the new Shift silhouette.

Design features include a stiffened midsole for power transfer while pedaling, a counter-griped gum rubber outsole that is durable and provides optimum grip on a variety of surfaces, as well as a strategically placed directional tread. The toe portion of the sole is able to grip the ground and the mid foot is lowered for the best pedal grip, while the heal-tread sheds dirt and optimizes traction. The well thought aspects of the outsole have been designed for the balance of stiffness and all day comfort while being wrapped in a sleek urban profile.

Additional features include custom chain link eyelet and hand stitch detail on heal cup, 12oz canvas, reflective heal badge, ventilation ports and a low profile design that fits seamlessly into toe straps.

Six Months Later | DZR Minnas

DZR-Minnas

In the last six months I’ve gone through three sets of cleats, four rear tires, broke my eggbeaters (twice), a stripped hub, and a handful of spills. Not to mention riding through rain, snow, mud, hot nights, and frozen mornings. That’s basically a weeks worth of weather in Missouri.

I’ve done all this while riding with my DZR Minnas. These are my commuter, ride around the city, hit the trails, and ride to the bar shoes. They are on my feet just about everyday, from 10 minutes after I wake up to 10 minutes before I go to bed. I’m rough on shoes. I’m also really particular about they fit. I have really narrow feet and shoes tend to slip off my heels real easy. Needless to say, the Minnas have held up. They don’t slip, keep my feet warm and dry, and are still comfortable. And when these shoes decide to blow, I will get myself another pair.

Also look out for what DZR shoes has coming this year. They have even teamed up with Mission Workshop and have leaked a few teasers over on their Facebook page. I can’t wait to see what all is in store!

DZR Minna Shoe Review

DZR-1

The first thing that attracted me to the DZR Minnas because of there sleek black design. And I like all black shoes because they go with everything. The Minnas were named in honor of their San Francisco showroom’s alley, Minna St. The graphics were designed a local artist, Jeremiah Bal.

DZR-4

I received a pair of Minnas a little over a month ago, and I have to say, these are some of the best urban cycling shoes I have ever worn. I’ve always had trouble fitting into any sort of athletic or cycling shoe, because I have a very narrow heal, and shoes would constantly slip. After talking with Brian at DZR and explaining to him my problem, he asked me a few questions and set me up with a pair of Minnas. And that was it. They don’t slip, my feet feels secure, and I don’t have to tighten them down real tight or wear double socks anymore.

DZR-2

A few more things that sold me on the Minna’s was DZR’s VFS technology (Variable Flex Shank) and and Elastic Lace Catch. The VFS technology allows for stiffness while riding and flexibility while walking. I’m the type of person that puts their shoes on right when they get up in the morning and don’t take them off until I go to bed. With the VFS feature, I was able to have the stiffness and power I needed while riding throughout the day/night, and am able to walk around in comfort and at the bar, work, or just chillin’ at a friends house. They also make for some great dance shoes.

DZR-5

The Minnas are SPD compatible. You can use Shimano SPD cleats, or Crank brothers SPD cleats. The installation of the cleats is very simple. Just remove the cover off the sole, position the cleat where you want and screw them in. For those of you that don’t ride clipless, just leave the cover on. It won’t effect performance or comfort of the shoe.

DZR-6

I highly recommend DZR shoes to anyone wanting a nice comfortable pair Urban Cycling Shoes. They also carry an awesome line of MTB shoes you should check out.

The DZR Minnas have a cost point of $105 (US), with optional cleat add-on. Are available in unisex sizes 37-47. For those of you who live in the US, here is a link to a sizing chart, or contact your local LBS or DZR if you have any sizing questions.

Atir Cycles | Week Three Review

8-3

This weekend was awesome. Lots of good times with some old and new friends, and of course riding the Atir Cycles glow bike. Saturday, I took a leisure ride around Kansas City and wanted to check out a few graffiti spots I saw being painted a while back. I also had to get my new DZR Minnas broke it. Of course, Saturday night I ended up in Westoprt and crashed at friends house and rode home early Sunday morning… in the pouring rain. The Kenda 28cs on Atir Cycles bikes are perfect if you get caught in the rain. Sure, I got soaked, but I had no problem gripping the road as I trekked home. Also a plus, the DZR Minnas kept my feet nice and dry on the ride home.

DZR Clipless Urban Riding Shoes | Minnas

DZR-1

I received a sweet pair of Minnas from DZR shoes earlier this week. Upon receiving them I set them up and was ready to go.  First off, the Minna is a good looking shoe and the packaging was awesome. I like the all black, because it will go with everything. I was really happy with the comfort compared to other shoes I have tried out. I have a narrow heel, and have problems with my foot slipping as I’m riding. These shoes, fit nice and snug and my foot didn’t slip. I’m really excited to get these broken in and see what they can do. Let the review process begin!!
