When I look back at 2015 I see how much I’ve grown as an artist and cyclist. I pushed myself harder physically and mentally than I ever have before. I met great people, who shared the same passion for track bikes as I do. Together we explored our city, challenged each other, helped each other grow, and packed in more miles than any of us ever thought we were capable of. But most importantly, we shared memories we will never forget.

Heading into 2016, there will be some changes to the blog. I never really settled on a direction, or figured out a voice for the current format. I knew I didn’t want to be “just another fixed gear blog,” and I feel it’s become that. I started a project over the summer that had me really excited and pushed my boundaries as a growing artist and cyclist. I shared a touch of it here, but never let it truly grow. Over the last few months I have revisited the project and have let it take hold of me again. I have begun to identify a voice and direction. That is what CyclopsFixed will become. Be patient as changes will slow. It will still have a touch of cycling (after all, the project wouldn’t have existed without a cycling influence), but will feature more original content and a better creative direction.

With that said. Everyone have a fun and happy NYE. Be safe. Ride safe. Don’t Drink and Drive (or ride). And I’ll see you in 2016.

Happy Pal-idays, Warm Weather, and New Ratios

It’s been unseasonably warm in Kansas City, allowing us to get out enjoy the outdoors, instead of hitting the trainers. It also prompted us to hold our first annual Happy Pal-Days party outdoors, with soup over the fire, good friends, board games, and more great treats. The blog will be a little scarce the next few weeks. With that said: Happy Holidays to everyone!!

Love Sweet Love

This is truly an amazing story. If you live in Kansas City, you’ve probably seen him. We all know him as Super Jesus. The thing I’ve always admired about him, is that he doesn’t impose his beliefs on you. He’s found a unique way of delivering his message without standing on a street corner during peak bar hours with a megaphone, preaching the bible. He doesn’t slam his religion in your face. He’s simply there, to talk, listen, play catch, and run.

“Team Cinelli Chrome at the edge of the world! After missing the final victory for a couple of points in 2014, this year Team Cinelli Chrome grew stronger and fought ‘til the end: there have been crushes, blood and tears but our guys always faced difficulties together. They became Red Hook World Champions in Milan, Cinelli hometown.”

The World’s Toughest Track Bike Race

This race is intense!!

“Cielos Infernales was being billed as the world’s toughest track bike race. The first of it’s kind- long, brutal, fast with miles of climbing into the clouds- on one gear in live traffic. 75 miles and 3 mountain ascents completely unsupported. It’s the first time an all-fixed gear alleycat has required the fitness and endurance of a stage race, and the street handling of a messenger. Plus racing in open streets in Mexico City is always a risk. Traffic is wild, roads are rough, and there’s always a chance of a stray pothole, dog, donkey or car catching you out.”

Bikes are People | Jeff Frane All-City Cycles

I’m never going to make up my mind on what bike to build next. Now that I have heard Jeff talk about the past, present, and future of All-City, I’m leaning towards pulling the trigger on a Space Horse!!
